Babaylan Philippine Women’s Network in Europe

Friday 6 April 2007

A network of Philippine women in Europe was established in 1992 to link together and forge unity towards empowerment. Through the EFF, Babaylan hopes to develop a Migrant Feminist Agenda from the perspective of migrant women together with our European feminist sisters. Joining the EFF is an opportunity for Babaylan to meet women of diverse background and to have our voices heard on issues and concerns affecting black, refugee and migrant women in Europe.

Plans you will have for the rest of 2007

The 2-day meeting will focus on some organizational matters on how to go about this project and an in-depth initial discussion through workshops. It is hoped that after this kick off workshops, the ball will start rolling among Babaylan members.

c) A second face-to-face meeting will be scheduled half-way the project for mid-evaluation and further discussion on December 2007 or January 2008.

d) 15 June: website posting of the results of the kick off activity in Germany

e) 15 September: progress report for the website representing our group’s process and debates.

Instructions for newcomers on how they can be involved

Part of the process is to include women of other nationalities in the discussion to ensure a richer perspective. Other migrant organisations involved with EFF and are interested to be part of the Migrant Feminist Agenda process are encouraged to get in touch directly with the Babaylan consultant (malu@kersentuin.net)kersentuin.net] to discuss the details on how to work together.
