Aika van der Kleij, Coordinator of the Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights, invites you to share your opinions on her position paper written for the EFF:

What is not human about women without citizenship? Do they not need respect of their RSHR?

"The most important right related to reproductive and sexual rights in Europe is the right to be equal as a human being. To have access to the same social justice as any other human being.

The reality in Europe is the problem of discrimination. Why can a female who is not a documented legally staying person and therefore a recognised citizen not have access to health care to treat her STD, deliver her baby safely, treat her HIV/AIDS infection, have an abortion when unwontedly pregnant etc.?

We do not just talk about female immigrants who seek a better life, who fear persecution of some sort and demand asylum. We also talk about those women who are being trafficked into Europe: Who are dependent on their pimps, who are exploited, who live in isolation, who are immobile (papers been taken away from them), who have little security, who lack a valid health insurance, who have limited access to information on STDs, HIV/AIDS, abortion services etc."
