Aika van der Kleij, Coordinator of the Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights, invites you to share your opinions on her position paper written for the EFF:
"The most important right related to reproductive and sexual rights in Europe is the right to be equal as a human being. To have access to the same social justice as any other human being. The reality in Europe is the problem of discrimination. Why can a female who is not a documented legally staying person and therefore a recognised citizen not have access to health care to treat her STD, deliver her baby safely, treat her HIV/AIDS infection, have an abortion when unwontedly pregnant etc.? We do not just talk about female immigrants who seek a better life, who fear persecution of some sort and demand asylum. We also talk about those women who are being trafficked into Europe: Who are dependent on their pimps, who are exploited, who live in isolation, who are immobile (papers been taken away from them), who have little security, who lack a valid health insurance, who have limited access to information on STDs, HIV/AIDS, abortion services etc." http://europeanfeministforum.org/sp... |
